Why I Wrote Forgotten Kingdoms of India
History has always been more than dates and battles to me—it is a collection of human stories waiting to be rediscovered.
I began writing Forgotten Kingdoms of Bharata during the COVID pandemic after watching my children become fascinated with Greek mythology. As they explored the adventures of ancient heroes and legendary kingdoms, I realized that India’s own history contains equally remarkable stories that are often overlooked. I wanted to create a novel that would bring these forgotten chapters of India’s past to life through the same sense of wonder, adventure, and discovery.
Forgotten Kingdoms of Bharata is set in a turbulent period following Alexander the Great’s campaign in India. While many readers are familiar with Alexander’s story, few know about the powerful kingdoms, political struggles, and extraordinary people who shaped India’s future during the years that followed. Through the journey of Malhar, Count Satya, Lalita, and the mysterious secrets of Fort Naaga, I hope to transport readers into a world where courage, loyalty, and destiny collide.
My goal is not only to entertain but also to spark curiosity about the rich history of ancient India. I believe historical fiction has the power to make the past accessible, memorable, and deeply personal.
Whether you are a history enthusiast, a lover of epic adventures, or simply someone who enjoys discovering new worlds through books, I hope this story inspires you to explore the forgotten kingdoms and remarkable people who helped shape Bharata’s legacy.
